Valparaiso will hold one of the most awaited, adrenaline-fuelled, exhilarating events of the year: the Red Bull Valparaiso Cerro Abajo.
This year Red Bull Valparaíso Cerro Abajo celebrates its 15th anniversary. As usual the famous seaport area of the Chilean heritage city will receive thousands of people to enjoy the most important urban downhill event of the summer and… KHS Factory Racing will be there to make their presence known.
Every year the city of Valparaíso, Chile, invites the best urban DH MTB riders to face the steep stairs and high jumps of its one-of-a-kind urban racecourse. See how this 14-year-old event has grown through the eyes of those most closely involved.
This year KHS Factory Racing Logan Binggeli takes on this extreme mountain-bike downhill race that only pro riders dare to take. This difficult urban-based course is shaped out of the historical streets, stairwells and narrow passageways of the World Heritage sea port city of Valparaíso in Chile, South America.
From 11am the hills of Valpo will be the playground where riders from around the world fly along a 1,650 metre race track packed with obstacles and dusty descents on the hills of the port town.
The best mountain bikes and international riders will gather on Cerro Cárcel hill for the 15th edition of this intense race- as many as 40 riders are expected to soar along the 1.6 kilometre track of streets, alleyways and crooked steps.
The swiftest of the riders, who takes the least seconds to cross the finish line will be crowned Red Bull Valparaíso Cerro Abajo champion. This thrilling race connects the top of Cerro Cárcel hill with Plaza Aníbar Pinto square in a 1.6k chute of steps, ramps and jumps- the less contact with the ground, the better! That’s what puts this urban downhill descent on the map.
