KHS Factory Racing has had a crazy summer of racing. We have raced in 3 different countries in the last 2 or so months and have put up great results. lets take a look.
Seamus Powell
Seamus has been all over the country this summer racing Enduro event on both coast, but the race that he was hungry for was the U.S National Championships in West Virginia. He had this to say about the race, “July Kicked off the main race season for me with 4 events back to back starting with National Championships in West Virginia.”
“Coming into that race being defending champion was difficult. I managed my race tactics and the terrain well enough to defend my tittle and carry on with the stars and stripes another season.”
“The next event moved me north to Thunder Mountain located in North Western Massachusetts where the second round of the Cliff Enduro East EWS Points Race went down. Super slippery conditions, 8 stages and 2 days of racing made for a battle of man, machine, mountain and competition. After 29 min of racing I came away with my second win of the year and the series lead by a narrow margin.”
“Following the momentum over the last couple races the team and I went further north to Killington, VT where the newly revamped US OPEN of Mountain biking settled into its new home. A fresh DH track and a newly added US OPEN Enduro event made for exciting fresh racing. Having raced this venue in the past I had a good shot of a podium ride against a slim but incredibly competitive field of racers including some of the best racers in the world.”
“I pulled out all the stops, hit my lines pedaled hard and came out with a 2 second victory to become the first US OPEN Enduro Champion ever!! Exhausted, happy and ready for a break? Yes. Job over NO!”
“I was still in striking distance positioning myself points wise for a good overall standing at the Eastern States Cup series the following weekend at a 1 day 5 stage race at the new enduro hot bed located at Victory, Hill Vermont. Each stage started high up the mountains steepest pitch and cascaded down to shallower grades where skills and fitness were challenged equally. Continuing my recent momentum… beaten, battered and tired I squeaked out my 4th win in a row against a fast local crowd and position myself for a good overall standing heading into the final 3 rounds of the Eastern States Cup Enduro series.”
“Its been a crazy season so far and there are heaps of racing left on the schedule. I race deep into the fall here in the North East and look forward to more podiums rides and fun times.”
Logan Binggeli
“My last few events finished a big four rounds swing stretching from West Virginia Idaho Vermont and Quebec Canada. I had some very good success at GRT round in Idaho coming out with second place.”
“From there we went on to Killington Vermont for the U.S. Open which was super rad and first event for the ski resort I ended up crashing twice in that event and getting a top 25. From there the team went on to Quebec Canada for the UCI World Cup downhill. We have had a small break and were able to put some good training in Southern California and now we have two weeks until the Mammoth GRT finals. Which I have a shot at the title sitting in second place.”
Nik Nestoroff
“My last few events have been pretty wild, with a bunch of different conditions. Got on the podium in Idaho which was a pretty loose dry race. Then the following weekend we went to Killington, Vermont for the US open which was the muddiest race I’ve done this season and one of the most raw and physical tracks on the circuit. I was stoked to get 7th there with such a massive international field.”
“The following weekend we went to the MSA World Cup which started off super muddy and then dried up which meant for some great racing. After Quebec I went to Whistler which is an awesome mountain bike festival with a bunch of different events and I ended up taking a top 15 there in a world class level race.”
“I made it onto the US worlds team and I went over to Switzerland and ended up snagging a top 50 there which wasn’t what I went there to do but being the youngest one there I got a bunch of awesome experience and can’t wait to do it all again next year.”
The team is trashed and have a few weeks off till the 2018 race season comes to a end in Mammoth Lakes, CA. The Mammoth Kamikaze Games has been, and always will be, a crazy race to end the season.
